Before you search

.co, .com.co or .com?

All three work for your website and email. What changes is how your address reads and which names are still available.

.com: the most familiar

It is the extension most people type by habit. Choose it if you sell beyond Colombia or your brand name is still available.

.co: short and Colombian

It is Colombia’s country domain and is also used worldwide. Names that are unavailable in .com are often still available here.

.com.co: clearly local

It makes your Colombian business clear. It is a good option when the .com and .co versions are already taken.

Before you choose

Tips for choosing your domain

Keep it short and easy to say

If you have to spell it over the phone, it is too complicated. Six to fourteen characters works well.

Avoid hyphens and numbers

They are easy to mishear and forget. Use a hyphen only when there is no real alternative.

Use words from your business

A word that says what you do or where you are helps people remember and find you.

Choose the extension with purpose

.com is the most familiar; .co is local and concise; .online, .store and .shop explain your purpose. If you can, register the .com too.

Protect your brand from the start

Register the domain in your company name and consider Domain Protect+ to keep personal details private.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us most

What is a domain?

It is your website’s address on the internet, for example yourbusiness.com. Visitors type it into a browser, and your professional email uses it after the @ symbol.

Do I need hosting to register a domain?

No. You can register the domain today and add hosting when your site is ready. Then you connect the two.

How long can I register it for?

From one to ten years, depending on the extension. The cart shows the exact price for each term and any savings per year.

What is Domain Protect+?

It is privacy protection that hides your personal details, such as your name, email and phone number, from public Whois searches. You can add it while searching or from the cart.

Can I transfer a domain I have with another provider?

Yes. Use our transfer page to check whether it can be moved and its price. You will need the authorisation code, also called EPP code, from your current provider.

What is the difference between .co and .com.co?

.co is Colombia’s country domain and is registered directly, such as yourbusiness.co. .com.co is an extension under .co that was originally intended for businesses. Both work for your site and email; address length, pricing and availability differ.

How do I pay for my domain and what invoice will I receive?

Pay online with PSE or a card. For each purchase we issue an electronic invoice and email it to the address you used for the order.

What happens if my domain expires?

Your website and email stop working until you renew it. After too much time, recovering it may carry a separate restoration fee and eventually someone else can register the name. Renew before its expiry date whenever possible.
