Whois: check a domain’s details

Check whether a domain is registered, when it expires, its registrar and the name servers it uses.

For privacy, we do not show the registrant’s personal details: only technical status, dates, registrar and DNS.

What it shows

What a Whois lookup tells you

Use it to see whether a name is available, keep your domain from expiring and check who manages DNS before transferring it.

Whether it is registered or available

This is the first result. If the domain is available, you can register it right there.

Registration and expiry dates

When it was registered, when it expires and when it was last updated. Useful for keeping your own domain from expiring.

Registrar

The company where the domain is registered. This is where you request an authorisation code to transfer it.

Name servers and DNSSEC

Where the domain points today. Check this before a transfer to know who manages your DNS.

Frequently asked questions

About Whois lookup

What is Whois?

It is a public lookup for a domain’s registration details: whether it is registered, when it was registered and expires, its registrar and its name servers.

Can I see who owns a domain?

No. For privacy, we do not show the registrant’s personal details. You will only see technical status, dates, registrar and name servers.

How can I find a domain’s expiry date?

Enter the full domain and select Search. The date appears next to Expiry. Some extensions, including .co, do not provide that detail in this lookup; in that case you will only see whether it is registered or available.

What if the domain I want is already registered?

Try the same name under another extension or use the name generator to find an available variation. The expiry date tells you how long it is paid for, but its owner may renew it first.
