Who Controls Your Business Domain? Keep Access
A website can be online while the business is still at risk if nobody knows who controls the domain account.
Your domain should not depend on the personal account of a former developer, agency or employee. That may remain invisible while the site works, but becomes urgent when the business needs to renew, transfer or recover the domain.
Delegating work is not surrendering control
A technical person can administer the domain. The company should still know the registrar, authorized contacts, recovery path and person who approves changes. Domain, DNS, hosting and email may be connected, but access to one does not guarantee access to the others.
Keep a business inventory
Record the domain and extension, registrar, recovery email, internal owner, renewal date and connected services. The whole team does not need every password; the business does need a documented recovery process that does not depend on one individual.
Use a unique password and a company-controlled recovery address. If the registrar offers two-step verification, evaluate it for the account that manages the domain.
